Life Hill Farm Cottage

A double bedroom at Life Hill Farm Cottage in East Yorkshire.

Enjoy a taste of country living......

Situated on a 500-acre arable farm on the Sledmere Estate, overlooking the rolling countryside of the Yorkshire Wolds which inspired the famous paintings of David Hockney.

Short breaks available. Book direct for best deal!

Visitors can enjoy a cosy living room with a quaint range fire and a spacious dining room, along with the privacy of each bedroom being en-suite. Prices are for 6 guests but smaller parties can enjoy a discount or large gatherings (up to 8) can just add on the extra persons as required.

The first floor has 1 large double bedroom with beautiful period furniture and an en-suite bathroom with shower over bath and toilet. There is a sofa bed to turn this room into a family room. This bedroom has stunning views over open farmland 27 miles south to the Humber Bridge (and not a building in sight to spoil this view!)

There are 2 ground floor annexe bedrooms converted with charm and character from traditional farm buildings: 1 double with en-suite wet room and toilet, 1 twin (zip and link, can be a super king) with en-suite shower room and toilet. Both have full pine bedroom suites and wooden floors.

The annexe bedrooms make this cottage ideal for couples or family groups but not so good for young children unless they are in the family room. Travel cots and a high chair are available to hire.

The ground floor rooms are ideal for guests with limited mobility and close parking and ramps make it accessible for wheelchair users.
You may want to bring your dog with you on holiday; you could even bring more than one if you are careful to treat the property and the surroundings with the respect they deserve. We do welcome many visitors with dogs and our own two, Mollie and Daisy, love to meet new friends. All we ask is that you leave the place as you find it - enough said? The charge for dogs is £10 per dog per night or £50 for a week.

Or you could bring your horse on holiday. Stabling and grazing is available with lovely shady, sheltered paddocks available for the horses to let down after a nice ride around the bridleways of the Wolds. Ring us to get an idea of whats on offer in our area for getting off the beaten track with your trusty mount.

There is a hard tennis court - it's not Wimbledon but it's fun to have at your disposal for your holiday and the enclosed area is a useful space for youngsters and animals to have a scamper around.

You can while away a few moments on the patio and take in the peace and quiet with only the sound of the birds twittering as they swoop around the farm buildings and feed at the stations in the garden.

You could also spend an hour or so on our tracks and grass margins and you would see brown hare, partridges, pheasants, yellow hammers and tree sparrows throughout the year. The summer months bring lapwings and skylarks in abundance but our special treat is to catch a glimpse of a family of Barn Owls nesting in one of the owl boxes we’ve put up.

The Wolds Way is close by and there is an abundance of walking, riding and cycling tracks from the doorstep. Sledmere village (2 miles) has a renowned pub serving food and Sledmere House is a charming stately home with an 18th-century walled rose garden. Further historic houses can be found at Burton Agnes, Sewerby and Castle Howard. Just a 30-minute drive leads to the east coast, with miles of sandy beaches and traditional resorts including Bridlington, Filey and Scarborough. Flamborough with its lighthouse and RSPB Bempton are easily accessible. The market town of Beverley (17 miles) and historic York (24 miles) are not to be missed.

Parking Onsite, Free Parking, Guided Tours (by arrangement). Annexe bedrooms so not suitable for small children unless sharing family room.
