About
Nordham Cottages have been operating since 2011 and in that time, voted finalists in the regional tourism awards many times, recognising our attention to detail and quest to provide the best Guest Experience we can. Decorated in traditional cottage style and comfortably furnished, Nordham Cottages were originally the gardener's cottages and store to Fawley House. Located in a quiet residential setting, on the edge of the village, there’s immediate access to stunning Yorkshire Wold's countryside. The cottages’ amenities nearby include village shops and a pub within half a mile, plus one through the Park. Each cottage has its own private outdoor South & West facing area with table and chairs to enjoy the sunshine and there’s off-road parking to each property. The famous North Cave Wetlands are half a mile away at the end of Nordham and there’s an array of walks on the doorstep, through parkland and by the village stream towards the Wold’s Way. Bay Tree and Apple Loft are perfect hideaways for couples wanting a refreshing break from busy lives.
The village playground, stream, quiet park lane for children’s bikes/scooters, and William’s Den Adventure Play on the edge of the village, make it a perfect place to stay for families.
Well located for a varied holiday, Nordham Cottages are the place to have special times together for families, friends away for a break or for city business, with such easy motorway access. Apple Loft sleeps 2
4* Apple Loft is part of Nordham Cottages and lies next door to Bay Tree Cottage. Located in the quiet residential setting of Nordham, on the edge of North Cave village. There’s immediate access to stunning Yorkshire Wold's countryside, and ‘Walkshire’ is ready and waiting for you!
Apple Loft is decorated in traditional cottage style, tastefully furnished, cosy and inviting, perfect for a relaxing break, and a change of scene. A great base to go off and explore our varied county.
If you’re working away from home, there’s good Wi-Fi connection, a large table to work at, flexible lighting, and importantly a comfortable chair to set up your office on the move.
The accommodation comprises open plan kitchen/dining/sitting room, sunny and bright with 2 South facing windows, and 2 windows looking onto the pretty street of Nordham. The bedroom window looks onto white City of York roses in season, and the parkland beyond, with mature Copper Beech which line the approach to Hotham Hall. The bedroom with king sized bed has feature bath, and original fireplace filled with attractive home-grown fir cones. There’s a separate en-suite handbasin and WC.
Apple Loft has its own private outdoor South & West facing walled garden area behind Nordham Cottages, with table & chairs to enjoy the sunshine, looking over the gardens of Fawley House. Off-road parking for one car is adjacent. The famous North Cave Wetlands are half a mile away at the end of Nordham and there’s an array of walks from the doorstep, through parkland and by the village stream towards the Wold’s Way.
Historically in its previous life, Apple Loft was the apple store to Fawley House, a place where the orchard’s bounty was kept over the winter months. Originally the space would have been the bedrooms of 3 ‘one up, one down’ cottages. Apple Loft lies next door to Fawley House, which opens its gardens for the National Garden Scheme, raising funds for numerous charities.
Described by guests as a "Lovely cosy space" (Dec 2020) and "a clean, cosy, lovely place to stay. The hosts are very friendly and helpful, the home-made jam is delicious!" (May 2021)
