Distilleries, vineyards and breweries

From Micro Breweries to Beer Festivals, from Yorkshire’s first whisky distillery to tour educators of all things (Yorkshire) gin, rum and vodka, East Yorkshire really does have a small but perfectly formed selection of spirit, ale and beer producers.

Traditional breweries

Using traditional methods and recipes, Wold Top Brewery brews real ales with real character. That character reflects the fact that they use pure, chalk filtered Yorkshire Wolds water, barley that is exclusively Wolds grown and malted by family maltsters and British grown hops to impart a distinctive flavour. They also have plenty of events and tours to experience for visitors to enjoy.

Half Moon are a family run micro-brewery who produce consistently high quality, award-winning beers which are hand crafted in true artisan style in an original blacksmith's forge. Find their brews at Beer Festivals in the area.

At the Old Mill Brewery you can book a fantastic group tour around their traditional brew house and fermenting room.

Distinctive distilleries

You can book a daily tour at Spirit of Yorkshire or a monthly taster at Twisted Roots Distillery ltd and indulge yourself in a tipple from the shop to take home after.

Hooting Owl distils six distinctive Gins that represent not only the history of their home base as a former Coaching Inn (Queen Victoria stayed there!), but also their Yorkshire family roots.  You will find their gins in local pubs and restaurants, deli’s, garden centres and hotels.

Scenic vineyards

From vineyard tours to a grape harvest, from a tasting room to vineyard picnics, the local vineyards have plenty of award-winning wines and regular fantastic events to experience.

Little Wold Vineyard has over 12,000 vines in the ground and are producing seven different wines.  With the addition of the Tasting Room, visitors can now take in the beautiful views while tasting the wines produced from the grapes grown in front of them.  They have a range of events that you can book onto via their website from vineyard tours to wine and craft afternoons.

Laurel Vines Vineyard and Winery is set in beautifully peaceful gentle rolling hills, they produce fine wines and hold numerous tours and foodie events throughout the year. Book a picnic and a tour or watching the sun go down at one of their Friday themed foodie nights. For a full day out, they have teamed up with their neighbours, Dumble Farm, to bring you "Herd it on the Grapevine!" a Highlands, History and Habitats Tour on the Dumble Bus, starring cute fluffy highland cows, a mid-way stop for coffee and homemade cake at Dumble Farm, followed by the vineyard and winery tour, around the 15,000 vines and winery to explain how they create their award winning wine. Then finally a vineyard picnic (allow 4-5 hours for this tour).

You will discover passion and commitment are shown through every stage by the producers, from grain to grass, vine to glass, to creating spirits, beers and ales, wines that represents East Yorkshire.
