About
At the junction turn left and pull in to the layby, here look back towards Sledmere village, where you'll recognise the view to be similar to that of The Road to York through Sledmere. Hockney would not have been able to see the full view as depicted in the image, but compiled it from a number of different angles up to the Eleanor Cross.
While in this charming village, it's worth making a stop at Sledmere House. With beautiful walled gardens, acres of grounds and a stunning house are just a few of the delights to enjoy here. Keep an eye on their events calendar and make sure to visit The Stables for homemade food and refreshements.
