Explore East Yorkshire

East Yorkshire has it all – miles of captivating coastline stretching out into the horizon, the rolling chalk hills and pretty valleys of the Yorkshire Wolds and an abundance of vibrant picture-perfect towns and villages. Three distinct personalities which make up the unique East Yorkshire experience. It’s time to explore!

The East Yorkshire Coast

The East Yorkshire Coast runs from Spurn Point up to Bempton Cliffs, offering 53 miles of wonderful landscapes. Traditional family-friendly resorts like Bridlington, with their white sandy beaches, inviting attractions and amusements sit happily alongside more rugged coastal destinations like Flamborough Head which are meccas for wildlife and ideal walking locations. Nothing beats that sea air!

The Yorkshire Wolds

Whilst on the subject of walking, if you love to grab your boots and get lost amongst lush green trails then a visit to the Yorkshire Wolds is an absolute must. Uncover mile upon mile of breath-taking scenery and marvel over the local wildlife and you’ll understand why this is the place which inspired the artist David Hockney to produce some of his most iconic works. The Yorkshire Wolds Way National Trail spans 79 miles, starting in Hessle and finishing in Filey in North Yorkshire, taking in some England’s most gentle and scenic terrain along the way. As you travel along the various sections of the trail, discover charming villages and points of interest and of course there are plenty of country pubs along the way so you can rest your feet and enjoy some refreshments.

Towns and villages in East Yorkshire

Quaint towns and villages are not confined to the Yorkshire Wolds though. Throughout East Yorkshire you will come across busy market towns with alluring cobbled streets, traditional shop fronts and cosy pubs just begging to be explored. The largest and perhaps the most well known of these is Beverley which offers a fantastic mixture of culture, shopping and places to eat and drink.

So whether you enjoy hitting the beach, long countrywide walks or a spot of retail therapy, you’re going to love exploring East Yorkshire!
