Beyond Beverley

Perhaps the most well-known town of East Yorkshire, the medieval town of Beverley is famous for its 13th century Minster, its market and bustling shopping and food scene. But look beyond Beverley and you’ll find so many more towns and villages to discover.

Known as the capital of the Wolds, Driffield is a thriving market town and hosts the annual Driffield Show, the largest agricultural show in Britain. It also has a pretty canal to wander, the 500-year-old tower of All Saint's Church and two of East Yorkshire’s finest country houses on its doorstep, Burton Agnes Hall and Sledmere House.

Howden is dominated by its beautiful minster, which leads to a beautifully preserved Georgian town centre. Enjoy a stroll through narrow cobbled streets whilst admiring the town’s beautiful architecture, attractive shops, historic coaching inns and inviting tea rooms.

Take a trip to Pocklington, on the edge of the Wolds, and make a stop at the town’s pride and joy, Burnby Hall Gardens. Over two acres of lakes you will find Europe's largest water lily collection and the grounds bloom with over 5,000 flowering plants. Let’s not forget the villages surrounding Pocklington as they are among the most picturesque in all the Yorkshire Wolds. Huggate and Millington village should be on your list of East Yorkshire villages to visit.
