AboutThe Heritage Centre has a range of resources including; a 3D model of the village and surrounding areas and display boards mapping key events in Rudston's 10,000 year history.
The Heritage Centre compliments the good work that is already in place which includes a wonderful and informative website (rudstonheritage.org.uk), a vibrant local history group and some written information.
Rudston is among the most significant archaeological sites in the country. It is fantastically rich in pre-historic and later archaeology. The village also has a wonderful cultural and natural heritage such as the nearby Roman villa and writer Winifred Holtby.
The church of All Saints stands very close to the Rudston Monolith — only about 12 feet from its north-east corner. It was built soon after the Norman conquest, probably around 1100AD by William Peverel, then Lord of the Manor.
