A unique visitor attraction located in the picturesque village of Hutton-le-Hole, where history is brought to life through the Museum’s buildings and collections.

Step back in time and explore:
•A typical Iron Age roundhouse
•A Medieval crofter’s cottage
•A thatched Elizabethan Manor House
•An 18th Century thatched cottage complete with rare wooden witch post
•A Victorian thatched cottage, washhouse and dairy
•An array of horse-drawn vehicles – a hearse, fire engine, carriages and ploughs
•Traditional workshops of the blacksmith, cobbler, wheelwright, tinsmith, cooper, saddler and carpenter
•An Edwardian daylight photographic studio – the oldest in the country
•Vintage farming equipment – tractors, ploughs, carts and threshing machine
•A nostalgic 1950s village shop and chemist
•The Rosedale glass furnace – an insight into an illegal 15th Century glass making industry
•The Harrison Collection – a treasure trove of stunning antiques and rare curiosities

Our gift shop offers a range of items for visitors to take home to commemorate their visit or as a gift for friends or family. We stock a range of books, toys, greetings cards, locally produced food and drink, as well as quality local hand-crafted items. All profits from the shop are used to support the Museum’s charitable activities.

There is a choice of fantastic tearooms and a great local pub in the village, supplying everything from a quick cuppa to a tasty two-course meal. Once you’ve purchased your ticket, you have the freedom to come in and out of the Museum, enabling you to enjoy refreshments or time exploring the village.

The Museum is Dog Friendly, has baby changing facilities and toilets and also has a wheelchair and 2 mobility scooters available for visitors to use. (If requiring a mobility scooter it is advised to call ahead of your visit to check availability).
