About
A beautiful dry valley site at the junction of three characteristic Wolds dry valleys (Worm Dale, Thixendale and Bradeham Dale) with panoramic 'big skies' above.
Waves & Time is a subtle earthwork in the shape of a large spiral situated at the base of the valley and formed by excavating a curving trough to a depth of approx 400mm, the earth from which is then used to form the curving mound to a height of approx 500mm. The idea being that nothing is brought into the dale nor taken away from it in the creation of the work. The spiral mound, 900mm from its base to its top, is approximately 40 metres in diameter with 'arms' stretching out and linking to a dew pond (to be restored) on the far side of the valley. Chris Drury's response to the site has been inspired by the ice and water that once flowed through here to shape the landscape.
