Here are a selection of frequently asked questions (and answers!) kindly provided by the Tourist Information Centre team to help you get the most from your stay.
1) Are the public toilets open in Beverley, Bridlington and East Yorkshire?
Yes. All East Riding of Yorkshire Council public toilets are open in Beverley, Bridlington and the rest of the East Riding.
2) I understand the Humber Bridge Car Park is being used as a Covid-19 Testing Site. Can I still visit the Humber Bridge Country Park and are there toilets available?
The main Humber Bridge Country Park car park (off Ferriby Road) is closed due to Covid-19 testing and the toilets are therefore closed to the public. Parking is available in the Lorry Car Park, however, which is situated on the left as you enter from Ferriby Road. Access to the Humber Bridge Country Park can be gained from there. You can still park on Hessle Foreshore and access the Country Park from there also. Public Toilets are available down on the foreshore and there is also The Country Park hotel, bar and restaurant, where refreshments can be purchased (please check their website for opening times ( Website or telephone 01482 640526)
3) Is public transport operating as normal in and around East Yorkshire?
Yes. All East Yorkshire buses are operating as per their timetables, as normal. Please consult their website, telephone on 01482 592929, or pick up a timetable from Beverley or Bridlington Tourist Information desks.
Northern Trains are running, however it is advisable to plan your journey as close to your travel time as possible using the National Rail Journey Planner

4) Where can we go for somewhere to eat in Beverley, Bridlington and the East Riding of Yorkshire?
Beverley, Bridlington and East Yorkshire have many places to eat and drink, with eateries to suit all tastes. Check out the Food and Drink pages. You can also pop into Tourist Information in the Treasure House, Beverley or at Bridlington Spa to speak to a TIC Advisor. Whilst at the Tourist Information, why not pick up the East Yorkshire Local Food Network (EYLFN) Booklet which is all about local food and drink in our area and is produced annually.
Please note, due to the current situation with Covid-19, many restaurants and cafes are operating at a lower capacity to enable social distancing and it may be necessary to book in advance.
5) We are coming to stay in East Yorkshire in a few months. How can we find out if there are any special events taking place in the East Riding region during our visit?

6) Have you got any information on cycling and walking in the area?
Yes, there are plenty of walks and cycle routes in East Yorkshire listed on the website, find the cycling and walking pages under Things to do, then Activities.
7) We want to walk the Yorkshire Wolds Way. Where can we obtain information about the trail?
The Yorkshire Wolds Way is a National Trail of 79 miles which runs from Hessle to Filey. As the name suggests, the trail covers the stunning Yorkshire Wolds, some of the most tranquil, unspoilt and gentle countryside in the country. The National Trail website is an excellent place to start when planning however, you can also gain useful information on accommodation, places to eat, etc by contacting one of the Tourist Information Centres. 8) Which Stately Homes are open in Autumn and Winter?
There are a number of grand stately homes in East Yorkshire, including; Burton Constable Hall, Sewerby Hall and Gardens, Burton Agness Hall, Sledmere House and Wassand Hall.
Please check opening times before setting off. If you are wanting to enter the house, please expect to queue Check out the Stately Homes & Gardens page for opening times.
9) How do I book a beach chalet on the Coast?
The chalets can be booked in person at the Foreshores Office in South Promenade, Bridlington or by calling 01262 678255.
10) What is there to do in Beverley that does not involve being too close to other people?
Beverley is fortunate to have a truly amazing space (over 400 acres!) called the Beverley Westwood Pastures. This common land is situated on the west edge of the town and an ideal place for families to explore, exercise, walk their dog, picnic, fly kites, etc. Beverley Golf Club also uses the land for its course of 18 holes and cattle are allowed to graze freely. It is also home to the Beverley Race Course, A unique space which is definitely worth visiting, especially if you wish to avoid the crowds!
Beverley also has a Beck (situated on Flemingate), a short canal (0.8 miles) in which you can walk along to Grovehill Lock on the River Hull.
11) Is the Beverley Festival of Christmas taking place this year?
Plans for the festival are still being decided. Enquiries regarding the Festival of Christmas can be sent to the East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Events Team bfoc@eyevents.co.uk
12) We’ve heard that there is a Medieval Guilds and Crafts Trail in Beverley. How can we do this?
You can pick up a map of the trails (there’s four in total!) from the Tourist Information Centres or alternatively, you can download it from our website. The trails will take you the length and breadth of the town, designed to reveal a glimpse of Beverley’s historic and varied past.
13) Is the Saturday Market in Beverley still on?
Yes, the popular market is still running on a Saturday however, it has currently been scaled back slightly to enable social distancing for the safety of customers and stall holders.

14) Is the Art Gallery and Museum open in Beverley?
Yes. The Art Gallery and Museum are situated in the Treasure House on Champney Rd and also houses the Local Studies and Archives Service and Beverley Library. Admission is free. The Tourist Information can also be found in this building. Please consult the website for opening times
15) Is The Guildhall in Beverley open? How much is the admission price?
Yes, the Grade 1 listed Guildhall is open to the public Wednesdays and Friday and admission is free. Check website for opening times.
16) Are the Bridlington amusements open?
Yes. Face coverings must be worn at all times within the amusements.
17) Is the Bridlington Park and Ride and Land Train running?
The Park and Ride and Land Train opening times are listed on the website.
The Land Train to the north of Bridlington is currently running between the North Promenade to Limekiln Lane. Face coverings must be worn when on the park and ride bus or landtrain.
18) How long does it take to get to the Old Town in Bridlington?
It is about a 20 minute walk from Bridlington Harbour area, and well worth the effort to visit historic buildings, galleries, antique shops and traditional cafes and pubs, in a beautifully preserved Georgian High Street.
