If you like to plan your break away around lots of things to do, then you're in luck as East Yorkshire is a year-round destination with a packed events programme running throughout the year.


Spring events

As the longer, warmer days arrive, East Yorkshire kicks off events season in style! Love vintage vehicles? Race the Waves offers an action-packed weekend of vintage vehicles roaring across Bridlington’s South Beach – you won’t want to miss it. Want to show off your carefully crafted steampunk attire? Each year Bridlington Spa hosts a huge steampunk gathering. Foodies will loves the annual Great British Food Festival held at Burton Constable Hall with its fantastic choice of street food, stalls filled with local produce and live entertainment. Or if you prefer to simply relax and enjoy the views as some of the world’s largest inflatable kites take the to skies over the cliffs of Bridlington then you might want to add the Bridlington Kite Festival to your list of things to do.

Summer highlights

The sun is shining high in the sky and East Yorkshire’s events season is in full swing! Be loud and proud and come out to support LGBTQ+ communities at Bridlington Pride, one of the region’s most colourful events. Put your glad rags on and celebrate all things vintage at Bridlington's 1940s and 50s Festival or meet giant fantastical creatures on the streets of historic Beverley at the bi-annual Beverley Puppet Festival. The summer brings with it many memorable musical moments including a Jazz and Blues Festival at Burton Agnes Hall, a stellar line up of tribute acts at the award-winning Tribfest and Bridlington Spa plays host to one of the UK’s largest Northern Soul events which is a sell out every year. Time to throw some shapes on the dancefloor!

Autumn highlights

Autumn’s changing landscape provides the perfect opportunity to step outside and appreciate of one nature’s most spectacular displays. As reds, oranges and golds sweep across the countryside, there is no better time to explore East Yorkshire. The Walking East Yorkshire Festival attracts thousands of people every year with a huge choice of walks and activities, from gentle strolls through vineyards to longer, more challenging hikes. Bridlington’s Land Sand Stone Art Festival celebrates the coastline and sees land artists from the UK and beyond create captivating art installations using natural materials and Heritage Open Days provide the opportunity to discover hidden places and try new experiences. For some autumn sparkle it has to be the epic musical fireworks at Sledmere House and in 2023 we're super excited to welcome some of the world's best cyclists to our region for the Tour of Britain.

Winter highlights

The arrival of winter heralds the countdown to Christmas and East Yorkshire does Christmas spectacularly well! For unique festive finds there are plenty of Christmas markets to visit. The Made in East Yorkshire Christmas Market should definitely be on your nice list along with the Beverley Festival of Christmas which is one of the UK’s largest single day Christmas festivals. At the Sewerby Winter Woodland, lights, sounds and special effects bring the grounds at Sewerby Hall to life making for the most magical of festive evenings out. Once Christmas is over there’s New Year’s Eve to look forward to and the Flamborough Fire Festival provides a unique way to celebrate – time to embrace your inner Viking! January and February can feel a little gloomy but there’s still plenty to look forward to ahead including the East Riding Stages Rally, an exciting closed road rally with buzzing spectator zones.
