Walking East Yorkshire Festival

Walk, cycle, ride, eat, drink, explore and discover the Yorkshire Wolds at the annual Walking East Yorkshire Festival. Over two weeks in September, choose from a huge range of organised walks and discover the beauty of the Yorkshire Wolds. From market towns to long-distance treks and from vineyard tours to stately home experiences, there is a walk for you. The perfect way to explore the great outdoors!


Driffield Show

Each summer, thousands of people gather for Driffield Show, one of the largest one day agricultural shows in the country. Taking place at Driffield Showground, expect to see livestock and horse and pony sections, dog shows, food and drink, horticulture and handicraft sessions, cookery demonstrations as well as plenty of trade stands.


Food tours and workshops

The Yorkshire Wolds is synonymous with East Yorkshire’s farming community and local producers. Many of the region’s tastiest foods and ingredients are grown and created in the Yorkshire Wolds! Get a behind the scenes look at some of these producers with tours, workshops, and special events throughout the year. From vineyard picnics to wine and cheese tasting and festivals at East Yorkshire’s breweries, food lovers will love this side to the Yorkshire Wolds.


Stately homes

You will find two of East Yorkshire’s magnificent stately homes in the Yorkshire Wolds and both run a full and varied programme of events throughout the year. Highlights at Burton Agnes Hall include their stunning Orchid Festival in the spring, Jazz and Blues Festival in the gardens over the summer and at Christmas they put on an impressive festive display with each of their grand rooms adorned with handmade decorations. At Sledmere House, you can get lost in their maize maze, watch their jaw-dropping musical fireworks display and pay a visit to Father Christmas throughout the festive season. It is sleigh loads of fun!


Pocklington Arts Centre

There is plenty to keep you entertained at the award-winning Pocklington Arts Centre. Take a seat in the 200-seat theatre and enjoy live music, theatre and comedy or settle down in the cinema for the latest Hollywood blockbuster or independent film.


Highfield House

Located in Driffield, in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds, Highfield House not only provides visitors with luxurious accommodation, but a rich and diverse programme of events including comedy, live music, crafting workshops and children’s entertainment. You do not need to be a hotel guest to enjoy the entertainment, everybody is welcome.


Howden Shire Hall


Built in 1871, the Victorian Howden Shire Hall is now an arts centre, playing host to a vibrant programme of live music, theatre, comedy and cinema.
