About Bridlington Bay Seafood

Bridlington Bay Seafood brings together the story of our coastline, our communities and the incredible shellfish that make this area famous. Sitting on the East Yorkshire coast, Bridlington is known as the Lobster Capital of Europe, renowned for landing some of the UK’s finest lobster, crab and whelks. This page introduces who we are, the heritage behind our seafood, and the people and places that make Bridlington Bay Seafood a trusted name. Whether you’re discovering our story for the first time or already know and love our shellfish, this is the perfect place to begin.

The Lobster Capital of Europe

Bridlington Bay is known as the Lobster Capital of Europe, landing over 300 tonnes of lobster each year, along with high‑quality brown crab, velvet crab and whelks. Much of this seafood is shipped across Europe and beyond, where it’s enjoyed for its quality and freshness.

But behind the numbers is a deeper story, one shaped by generations of fishing families, merchants, processors, local fishmongers and the restaurants who proudly serve seafood from this coastline.

A community built on the sea

Bridlington Bay Seafood isn’t one business or one fleet. It’s a name our community uses proudly to celebrate local shellfish and the care that goes into catching, preparing and serving it. From boats offshore to chefs in busy kitchens, it brings together everyone who wants to champion the care and craft behind local shellfish.

From Flamborough to Withernsea

Bridlington Bay Seafood covers the area that runs from Flamborough Head down to Withernsea, an area known for its rich waters, long fishing heritage and deep connection to the sea. This is where our seafood is caught and landed, before much of it travels to customers across Europe and further afield.
