Plan your visit to the Walking East Yorkshire Festival

Make the most of your Walking East Yorkshire Festival experience with a little forward thinking and planning ahead. From booking your place on guided walks to knowing what to bring, everything you need to enjoy the festival can be found below.

With events taking place across the region, from the Yorkshire Wolds to the coast and everything in between, we recommend checking event details carefully and allowing plenty of time to travel between locations.

Booking

Some festival walks and activities have limited spaces for health and safety reasons, so advance booking is essential where stated.

Please ensure you bring your proof of booking with you to the event. Participants who are not on the booking list or cannot provide proof of purchase may not be able to take part.

We recommend booking early to avoid disappointment, as many events fill quickly.

Getting to your event

Please aim to arrive at least 10 minutes before the start time of your walk or activity.

Your event leader will be there to welcome you and provide any necessary information before setting off. Events will generally go ahead in all weather conditions, however in the case of unsafe conditions, a safety assessment may result in cancellation.

Please note that finish times are approximate and may vary depending on pace and conditions.

What to wear and bring along

To enjoy your activity safely and comfortably, it’s important to come prepared.

  • Wear walking boots or sturdy footwear suitable for uneven terrain
  • Dress for the weather, bring waterproofs and sun protection
  • Carry plenty of water and snacks
  • Bring a packed lunch for longer walks where required

It is your responsibility to ensure you are physically able to complete your chosen walk and properly equipped. For safety reasons, walk leaders may refuse participation to anyone who is not adequately prepared.

Cancellations and refunds

Booking fees are non-refundable.

In some cases, we may attempt to re-sell your place if you notify us at least 7 days before your scheduled event, although this cannot be guaranteed and unsold tickets held by the organiser will take priority.

Bringing children along for the fun

All children and young people under the age of 16 must be always accompanied by an adult during festival events.

Many walks are suitable for families, offering a great opportunity to explore the outdoors together and discover the landscapes, wildlife and history of East Yorkshire in a fun and active way. Be sure to check individual event listings for details on distances, terrain and suitability to help you choose the right experience for your group.

Dog friendly events

Bringing along your well-behaved four-legged friends are welcome on selected events and will be clearly identified in the event listing. Walking with your dog is a great way to enjoy the outdoors together, but it’s important to choose routes that suit both you and your pet.

  • Dogs must be kept on short leads at all times
  • Not all walks are suitable for dogs due to livestock, narrow paths or stiles
  • Assistance dogs are welcome where appropriate

Please check the individual event details carefully before booking to ensure the walk is suitable for bringing your dog along.
