Set within 16-acres of private gardens and woodland, this elegant hotel offers a peaceful retreat just outside Beverley, only an eight-minute drive from the town centre. If you’re travelling by public transport, the number 25 EYMS bus service runs from Beverley Bus Station to Tickton, making it easy to reach even without a car.

Inside, you’ll find 21 individually designed bedrooms, each with their own character. Many rooms look out over the gardens, and all share a light, airy feel with pretty décor. Each morning, you'll wake up to a hearty Yorkshire breakfast made with locally sourced ingredients. Milk from East Yorkshire's dairies, locally farmed bacon and muesli from Side Oven Bakery will get your day off to a flying start!

Afternoon - Tea time treats and a relaxing stroll around Tickton

Once you’ve settled in, treat yourself to a traditional afternoon tea, one of the hotel’s signature experiences. Expect delicate finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones with clotted cream and jam, and a tempting selection of handcrafted pastries and cakes, all served on their fine china. A pot of Buckingham Palace loose leaf tea brings it all together nicely.

The service is attentive without being too formal, with the staff taking care to top up your tea and ensure you have everything you need while still giving you space to relax. Enjoy your afternoon tea in one of the bright, cosy lounges or overlooking the gardens for the ideal way to start your Beverley foodie escape.

After your afternoon tea, take a little time to explore the peaceful countryside around Tickton. The area is perfect for a gentle stroll, with quiet lanes and flat, easy paths that let you soak up the fresh air before your evening plans. If you fancy extending your walk, wander over to the Crown and Anchor in Tickton, just 1.2 miles away (around a 22‑minute walk). This welcoming village pub sits beside the water, offering lovely views across the river and a relaxed atmosphere that’s ideal for a pre‑dinner drink.

Evening - Michelin-recommended dining at The Westwood

Round off your first day with an evening at The Westwood Restaurant, one of Beverley’s most acclaimed dining spots. Set within the elegant, Grade II‑listed former courthouse, the restaurant blends modern, relaxed interiors with the building’s historic charm.

The menu changes with the seasons and focuses on modern British dishes made with top‑quality, locally sourced ingredients. Expect beautifully presented plates such as perfectly seared scallops, tender fish dishes and creative takes on classic favourites, all served by a team known for being friendly and genuinely passionate about what they do. It’s the kind of place where you never feel rushed, and the service really helps make the evening feel extra special.

Before or after your meal, don’t miss The W Bar, a cocktail bar tucked away upstairs above the restaurant. It’s a lovely hidden spot where you can enjoy beautifully made cocktails, alongside an interesting range of beers, spirits, wines, champagne and tasty bar nibbles. It’s perfect if you want to wind down with a nightcap after dinner in a cosy, intimate setting.

You should definitely book ahead, especially for weekend evenings or celebrations, as The Westwood is one of the highest‑rated restaurants in the area and features in the Michelin Guide with several awards to its name. And if you're visiting in warmer months, it’s well worth asking if you can sit out on The Terrace which is their covered outdoor dining space that’s perfect for a relaxed summer evening.

Day 2: Explore Beverley’s food scene

Morning option 1 - If you're visiting over the weekend, take a bite out of Beverley with a food and history tour

If your trip falls over a weekend, be sure to join a Beverley Bites Food and History Tour, a fantastic way to experience the town through its flavours and stories. This guided walking tour lasts up to four hours and weaves together Beverley’s rich medieval history, characterful streets and independent food scene in one relaxed experience. As you wander through the historic market town, your guide Emma, will introduce you to centuries‑old landmarks such as St Mary's Church, hidden corners, and the tales that have shaped Beverley, all while stopping for delicious bites at some of the town’s best‑loved eateries. Expect a mix of sweet and savoury tastings, and plenty of insights into how Beverley’s food culture has evolved. It’s relaxed, informative, and a brilliant way to meet local makers and sample dishes you might not have found on your own.

Morning option 2 - If you're visiting mid‑week, explore Beverley’s thriving food scene at your own pace

If you’re not visiting on a weekend, spend a leisurely morning and afternoon exploring Beverley’s ever‑growing food scene, which is full of independent gems.

Start with a stop at TC Patisserie, a much‑loved French bakery known for its perfectly flaky pastries, tasty cakes and authentic French treats. Then pick up something sweet at one of Beverley’s artisan chocolate shops, where you can select handmade truffles or small‑batch chocolates crafted with real care. Gemini Chocolate, Kate Chocolatier and Terroir Chocolate all offer something different.

For lunch, Vanessa Café and Delicatessen is a perfect spot to enjoy something hearty and homemade. Enjoy your food sat outside in their seating area within Saturday Market or there's seating available upstairs too. Don't leave before browsing their shop and deli counter where you'll find plenty of local Yorkshire produce.

If you’re looking for something a little more traditional, make your way to Kavanagh’s Tea Room on Toll Gavel in the heart of Beverley. This charming, family‑run spot is known for its homemade cakes, light lunches and nostalgic atmosphere. It's the ideal place for a midday pause between exploring Beverley’s cobbled streets and historic landmarks.

In the afternoon, take your time exploring Beverley’s historic pubs. Many date back centuries and offer cosy corners, and great local ales. And if you’re visiting on a warm day, make sure you stop at Poma, Beverley’s artisan gelato shop, where flavours change with the seasons and everything is made in‑house.

Whether you choose a guided tour or explore freely, day 2 is all about savouring Beverley’s character and incredible independent food culture.

The menu here celebrates hearty Alsatian dishes alongside Indian-inspired flavours. Expect rustic, home‑cooked classics, served in a warm, intimate setting on Highgate, right in the heart of Beverley and close to the iconic Beverley Minster.

Thursday to Saturday, you can enjoy their French Bistrot menu, inspired by classic regional flavours. On Wednesdays, the focus shifts to their popular Biryani Feast. And if your visit falls on the last Sunday of the month, you’ll be able to experience the authentic Lyonnais brunch known as the Mâchon, a set menu of traditional dishes served on communal tables for a shared dining experience.

Walk ins are welcome but we recommend that you book ahead to avoid disappointment.

Day 3: A relaxed final day filled with fresh air and fabulous food

Option 1: Stretch your legs on Beverley Westwood and lunch at The Rose & Crown

After two days of indulgence, you might be ready to walk off a few of those delicious calories. Start your final morning with a refreshing stroll across Beverley Westwood, a vast stretch of open pasture just outside the town centre. Its rolling green landscape, grazing cattle and sweeping views make it the perfect place to breathe in some countryside air, and enjoy Beverley’s peaceful, rural side.

Once you’ve worked up an appetite, head to The Rose & Crown, a historic Beverley favourite located on North Bar Without. The pub blends old‑world character (think exposed beams, cosy corners and a welcoming feel) with a menu built around hearty, comforting food. Expect classic British pub food done well: generous plates, quality ingredients and a relaxed, friendly vibe that makes you instantly feel at home.

If you’re visiting on a Sunday, you’re in luck. The Rose & Crown is known locally for serving one of the area’s best Sunday lunches. Plates come loaded with perfectly roasted meats, golden Yorkshire puddings, seasonal vegetables and rich, flavour-packed gravy (if you need a little extra just ask for another jug of gravy and the staff will happily oblige). It’s everything a proper Sunday roast should be and the perfect way to round off a foodie weekend in Beverley.
