Here you'll find some of the most commonly asked questions about the Bridlington Ice Trail. If you have a query that isn't answered here please don't hesitate to get in touch with the Bridlington Tourist Information Centre on 01482 391634.
Do I need a ticket?
No tickets are needed, Bridlington Ice Trail is a free event!
Where can I get a Bridlington Ice Trail map?
You'll be able to pick up a free trail map from the Bridlington Tourist Information Centre closer to the event and you'll be able to downloaded a copy online prior to the event. Look out for the HEY! Volunteers in their bright blue uniforms giving out maps on the day too.
What are the opening times?
The trail will start at 10.30am and run through to approximately 5.30pm, weather dependent.
Which of the sculptures are interactive / selfie spots?
All of the interactive sculptures are marked with a camera on the trail map, making them nice and easy to find.
How do I find the sculptures?
We have created a map to help you find the ice sculptures on the trail. You can download the map online or pick up in person from the xxxx or from the HEY! Volunteers who will be giving them out during the event.
We also plot all locations onto an online, interactive map and provide the what3words locations for each sculpture on the sculpture information page.
Can I touch the ice sculptures?
Whilst we encourage visitors to get up close to the sculptures, do not touch or climb on them as this may damage them and spoil the festive fun for others.
Who makes the ice sculptures?
Glacial Art will design and hand carve all the sculptures, working with Visit East Yorkshire and East Riding of Yorkshire Council. During the ice trail you'll have the opportunity to watch some live ice carving and see how the sculptures are made for yourself.
Why could some sculptures get removed during the day?
Whilst we do our best to keep the ice sculptures intact for as long as possible, the weather can affect them. If it’s particularly wet, sunny, or windy, the ice can melt faster so we may need to remove the sculptures for the safety of our visitors. If the ice sculptures become damaged through people touching them, we may have to remove them too so please refrain from any contact with them.
Is the event accessible?
Bridlington is an accessible destination with mostly smooth flat surfaces throughout the town and plenty of ramped access to higher or lower areas. We have also taken care in choosing the locations of the ice sculptures to ensure the event is as accessible as possible for the majority of people.
What are you doing to make the event sustainable?
We encourage visitors to download a digital copy of the trail map or use the online version instead of picking up a printed copy, to reduce the amount of print required and reduce our impact on the environment.
Where can I give feedback about the event?
We will be inviting visitors to give their feedback at the event and we will also have a feedback form available online.
