Café culture

Whether it’s delicious afternoon teas or superb truffle mash potatoes, there’s a great community of independent businesses in East Yorkshire’s cosmopolitan market towns that go hand in hand with an indulgent brunch and lunch culture in the area. Medieval Beverley, with its pavement seating in both Saturday and Wednesday Market areas is noted for a fine selection of cafes and tearooms.

When you’re out and about walking or cycling on the Yorkshire Wolds Way there are no shortage of resting stops.

Near to Stamford Bridge in the Yorkshire Wolds, the Balloon Tree Farm Shop and Café is a delightful place to stop for a cuppa and a slice of their famous fresh fruit roulade. With its enclosed playground in beautiful, landscaped gardens it is ideal to enjoy a coffee while the little ones run off steam.

Another ideal place to pause is the Fiddle Drill Tearooms in Goodmanham, located within a converted barn on a family run farm.  Rest your legs, enjoy locally sourced food and eat inside or out.

If you’re looking for a stop-off when you’re taking in the picturesque Huggate and the Yorkshire Wolds head to Rachel’s Walnut Cottage Tearoom.  Here you can treat yourself to a refreshing cup of tea or ground coffee and an unmissable – and huge -home baked cake or scone.  All served in and on vintage china!
