We’ve teamed up with award-winning local walking specialists Walking the Wolds and Visit England ROSE Award-winning Church Farm Cottages to offer a lucky winner (and their four-legged friend) a ready-made walking break where everything is taken care of - with dogs fully included in every part of the experience. All you need to do is lace up your boots and enjoy! Please note this is a group holiday and you will be joined by other people and their dogs throughout the activities planned.

This is not a standard walking holiday that happens to allow dogs, it’s a dog-focused group experience created for people who want to explore East Yorkshire with their dogs.

- Accommodation: A three-night stay at The Plovery, a beautifully restored two-bedroom, two-bathroom, dog friendly cottage at Church Farm Cottages, nestled in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds. You'll have exclusive use for up to two people and two dogs.
- Guided walks with Walking the Wolds: Two spectacular guided walks showcasing some of the most scenic, peaceful and historic landscapes in East Yorkshire.

Your walking holiday itinerary
Friday 17th April (mid-afternoon) – arrival day
Arrive at Church Farm Cottages mid-afternoon, settle into The Plovery and enjoy a welcome cheese and wine supper. Put your feet up, relax, and soak up the calm of the Yorkshire Wolds - the walking begins tomorrow!
Saturday 18th April – Fridaythorpe Round (7.8 miles)
Starting in Fridaythorpe, one of the key points along the Yorkshire Wolds Way National Trail, this walk is a wonderful introduction to the area. After the walk, return to Church Farm Cottages for a well-earned cuppa and a chance to put your feet up.
In the evening, you'll join local guide Emma Hetherington from Beverley Bites as we embark on a food and history tour of Beverley. We'll visit three dog-friendly businesses for your starter, main course and pudding, all while hearing fascinating stories about Beverley's past. Please note that you'll need to make your own way to Beverley for the tour.
Sunday 19th April – Five Dales Walk (6.2 miles)
Starting from Millington Dale, you’ll enjoy sweeping views from rolling hilltops down to peaceful valley bottoms, with sections along both the Chalkland Way and the Yorkshire Wolds Way.
After your walk, you’ll head to the welcoming Gait Inn in Millington for a two-course meal, celebrating local produce in a cosy village pub setting.
Later, enjoy a luxury holistic treatment in the comfort of your holiday cottage, provided by Revive and Remedy. Choose from an aromatherapy hand massage, an aromatherapy foot and leg massage, a reflexology session, an Indian head massage or a back massage with exfoliating back mask. We can't think of a better way to relax after a day of walking in the Yorkshire Wolds.
Monday 20th April (morning) – departure
After breakfast it’s time to say goodbye, with tired legs, happy paws and some amazing memories.

Terms and conditions

- The competition closes at 23:59 on Sunday 15th February 2026 with the winner contacted by Thursday 19th February 2026.
- Visit East Yorkshire will contact the winner by email. The winner will then have 48 hours to get in touch with details required and confirmation they are claiming the prize. If we do not hear from the winner after 48 hours, another winner will be selected at random.
- One lucky winner will win a dog-friendly break to East Yorkshire for up to two adults and two dogs and will receive a 3-night stay at Church Farm Cottages with walks, food and activities outlined in the itinerary above included. This is a group holiday and you will be joined by other people and their dogs throughout the activities.
- The 3-night stay at Church Farm Cottages is for check in on Friday 17th April 2026 and check out on Monday 20th April 2026. The accommodation is self-catered.
- Other than the welcome cheese and wine supper, food and history tour on Saturday evening and a 2-course meal the Gait Inn on Sunday, meals are not included with the holiday. There is a modern, full-equipped kitchen in The Plovery for you to prepare your own meals in, and you will need to provide the supplies for these yourself.
- Transport is not included to Beverley for the food and history tour and you will need to make your own travel arrangements.
- The prize cannot be exchanged, refunded or passed onto a third party.
- The winner must have their own transport to travel to East Yorkshire.
- Your dog should be well behaved and comfortable around other dogs.
- Visit East Yorkshire will not be held liable for any accident or injury to people or dogs during your stay.
- You do not need to own a dog to enter the competition but you should like dogs and be comfortable around them as there will be lots of dogs joining in with the activities planned.
- The winner must pass on their name and contact details to Visit East Yorkshire, in order for Visit East Yorkshire to pass on the details to Walking the Wolds and Church Farm Cottages.
- No cash alternative is available.
